Venus Fly-Trap ::: "Metamorphosis"

gothic - rock

A truly underground band, V.F.T. have been around for quite some time now. This compilation brings together material from 5 albums spanning 1989-1999. The producers of these songs range from such notables as Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus), Pat Fish (Jazz Butcher) and Martin Bowes (Attrition). V.F.T. have a fresh gothic sound that is gladly far away from the thousands of Sisters of Mercy clones that have cluttered the gothic soundscape over the past decade.

The V.F.T. sound lies on the edge of the gothic spectrum somewhere between Christian Death, Joy Division, The Damned with maybe even a little bit of Hawkwind ie. psychedelic-gothic-space-rock. In other words, this rocks. It's great to find new gothic music that I enjoy! If you dig the above bands then you're a prime candidate to be a V.F.T. disciple too. Even Sisters fans will dig them if you're into something new. Driving beats and guitars make up the foundation over which Alex Novak casts his uniquely British gothic-punk howl. To enter the Venus Fly Trap, this compilation is the door.

PS - V.F.T. also produce the "Bizarre" zine that features & reviews undeground projects, with compilations.
