blatant propaganda news:2009We've done extensive edits and resurrected this website :-) ... (happy face) ... mainly so that the precious Propaganda Articles are back online... added several EYE interviews and articles as well as propaganda stickers and posters and reviews about several of our past B.P. compilation CDs. EYE (and related sibling) music is to be made available to the public again via www.EyeMusic.info For updates on that join the email list (see form at right and at bottom of this page). About 10 EYE albums will be released (one by one) including 4 new ones, "Propaganda Machine Volumes 1 to 4"; the best recordings so far, from around 1998-2004, that were either released only to radio stations, on compilation CDs or not released at all. Other albums will include bonus tracks; being material that was originally EYE but later released on compilations or our CDr albums under the artist names "aya", "elf", "E.L.F.", "DJ Citizen" or "QT". This will clear the way for a release of new EYE works in 2010. EYE's "Propaganda Machine Volume 1" was launched at club events in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney with several hundred CDs given away. We prefer the music to get out there into the hands of the public that way rather than bother with the exhausting, time-wasting and costly process of selling - we know from experience that you rarely ever get money back from shops, labels or other distribution networks - we've got far better things to do with our time than stuff about with all that. Add to that, most (younger) people are accustomed to free music now; people don't buy CDs like they (or their elders) used to. Our sibling website www.MedicineKillsMillions.com has been extensively updated too. 2007-09EYE sampler-compilation CDRs were given away at various club nights in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. EYE tracks continued to receive radio airplay on community radio stations around Australia. Several new demo recordings were done. EYE members were kept busy with running and DJing at weekly club nights in Canberra and guest spots in other Australian cities. 2004EYE received a letter from Jello Biafra (lead singer of the legendary Dead Kennedy's, Lard and others) who was interested to hear more noises with a view to releasing material on his Alternative Tentacles record label and distribution network. That's a BIG thing! We had helped to organise his spoken word tour in Canberra and given him a 4-track CDr. At the time, however, our life situations forbid being able to commit seriously to a music career, which means dropping everything and exposing yourself to great financial risk, plus we were not keen to become targets and possible martyrs in the very conservative, repressive and fanatical George W Bush period USA. So even though we had 100+ minutes of mastered music ready to release (since mid 2003) ... we let it go and didn't reply! In late 2004 and early 2005 EYE members played key roles in raising funds and re-creating organisation that saved Australia's oldest, and once one of the most radical of community radio stations, 2XX, from closure. It had been very heavily in debt... and thanks to the very hard work of about 4 people turned the corner and is still on air many years later :-) .. though it's sadly nothing like the hub of radical music, activism and people that it once was. We put the record label and this website into hibernation about mid-year. Earlier in the year we co-organised an "eXXentricity 2" big gig of DJs and live electronic acts (to raise funds for community radio 2XX) with a CD compilation of Canberran electronic artists given away to punters. In the climate of the John Howard (Australian) government imposing repressive legislation that seriously damaged worker's rights and conditions, EYE released the "Worker's United" E.P. (3 tracks plus the video to "Mandate") to community radio stations and shows around Australia; about 100 copies were sent out. Like previous releases it received extensive radio airplay including prime time breakfast and drive-time shows. EYE's sibling project "E.L.F." played a few gigs in Canberra and Sydney. Later in the year we lost ownership of the dot-com version of this website! July 2003: E.L.F. Brisbane gig postponed to SeptemberE.L.F.'s Brisbane gig has been postponed to late September. Also, E.L.F. will appear at the huge Advent*jah Festival in November. Some gigs in Sydney are planned for early September July 2003: E.L.F. on national radio JJJ daily rotation, new "Songs of Protest " CD, new EYE CD almost outYes, we have been very bad at not keeping this news page up to date since April. That's because we've been sooooo busy. So much has happened: For starters, the Australian government's national youth radio station JJJ has added the E.L.F. electronica anthem "A Nice Walk in the Park" to their daily playlist. You can request the song online via this JJJ request page and you can vote for it in their weekly Super Net 50 competition. Just choose from the drop-down list "A Nice Walk in the Park" : E.L.F. We were flat out in April and May co-planning & organising the huge launch for the "Electricity" CD. It went off with a huge bang on May 31 at Babylon nightclub in the centre of Canberra city. 2 Rooms with 8 live electronica acts and 15 DJs. Apparently it was the biggest collection of Canberran electronica and DJs ever. Around 450 happy punters came along and many went home with a copy of the "Electricity" CD. As a result we only have about 9 CD s left. So you'd better be quick to get one of these gems. Thank-you heaps to the Radio 2XX gang, especially Somaya and Calico who made this CD launch possible. Over $4,000 was raised for keeping Canberra's Community Radio 2XX on the air. Live acts included E.L.F., Mystral Tide, Dark Network, Solaris, Kimmo Vennonen, Stalker and many more. The new "Songs of Protest" CD is back from the pressing plant. A great collection of truly underground Australian artists ranging from hip-hop to pop-punk to industrial to electronica to techno-acid-house. For ages we have wanted to put together a compilation of the very best political songs around by d.i.y. artists with the highest credibility and integrity. That's just what we've done. Issues include: media and government propaganda, activism, refugees, war myths and lies, aboriginal landrights, nuclear/uranium, class solidarity, reclaim the streets, environmentalism and much much more. The CD is receiving airplay on dozens of Community Radio Stations around Australia. We have only a very small number available for sale - only $10. EYE's new CD "Propaganda Machine - the Ultimate Consumer Product" is very very close to completion. It was fomerly titled "The Politics of Terror - A User's guide". It features about 65 minutes of CD audio - including many of the hits from recent years such as "[Refugees] Detention without Trial" and "Taliban: Made by the USA"... PLUS, MP3s of various other tracks and a quicktime version of the video to "Mandate!" April 2003: New reviews, E.L.F. = #2!, EYE's earliest works re-issued on CDr.We have added new reviews for the Electricity CD. We just found out that E.L.F. actually came 2nd (!) in last year's musicoz competition held by Sony & Festival music. Previously we only knew that E.L.F. was in the top 5 for the Dance music category. We've also finally put up web-pages for the EYE "Gratings: early works 1991-92" CDr and the EYE "Herd Under Social Hypnosis: 1993-1995" CDr. The tracklist for "Aphazia 1992-98" has also been modified. The E.L.F. tracks have been removed (as they're on "Preview") and more EYE tracks added to it. March 2003: Paypal orders now accepted, new interviews, E.L.F. gigsIf you would like to pay for our merchandise via www.paypal.com you can now do so. Just email us to arrange it. It's working well and is much easier for you to do than sending hidden-cash or International money orders. The "Electricity" CD is now in several stores in Canberra. They are in boxes on the counters of Impact Records, Landspeed and Revolution CD in Civic. It has received tonnes of airplay on Radio 2XX 98.3FM - including interviews and features. An article should appear in the next BMA music magazine. Stay tuned for the launch dates - expected to be early April. New Interview: An interview with one of the J. Citizens has appeared in the new issue of the wonderful "Cyclic Defrost" magazine. You can either grab yourself a copy of it via record shops in Australia or see it online here. The zine focusses on innovative electronic-based music. On March 8 E.L.F. had a wonderful time playing at an event called "fuzzbox" at a new venue - the Green Room in Phillip, in south Canberra. The music was a lot crunchier and power-noise-ish than past sets. Comments such as "your best gig yet" were received. Next gig is due in about 4 to 6 weeks. February 2003: Electricity CD released! At long long last , the terrific "Electricity" double CD has finally been released (after 4 years in the works). And it sells for only $10 Australian or $7 U.S. (that includes postage) for 150 minutes of great electronic music ranging across electronica, acid, house, trance, industrial, drum&bass, electro, ambient soundscapes and powernoise. 31 artists. The CD price is low as , yet again, we have our charity badge on (a bad habit) and this is a promo-focussed release - aimed to get these great artists better known. POLICE STATE U.S.A. - Want to know about the secret "Patriot Act Part II" that GW Bush and friends are about to impose on Americans see www.rense.com The proposed laws scrap most of the U.S. constitution and give Bush and friends powers that are more dictatorial than what Hitler even had. The first Patriot Act was passed in October 2001 without Congress even being allowed to read it! Truly revealing stuff. New Radio show: We now host yet another radio show on 2XX 98.3FM. That makes it our 4th regular show. This one is weekly, prime-time and we can play any genre from anywhere in the world. So feel free to send your submissions - political music is especially desired (address at bottom of page). January 2003: Website revamp, Upcoming CDs, MP3 alert, new propaganda, EYE and E.L.F. newsWebsite revamp: we've simplified and streamlined the website's look and feel. Sadly, the pretty rollover navigation bar has gone - all those images slowed down page loading times quite a lot. However, it means Big Bunnykins can be bigger and keep a better eye on the lot of you. The search field is now on most pages too. We've also added a forum page where you can add your propaganda articles, thoughtful comments and hysterical abuse etc. Label news: We have several compilation CDs to be released soon. At long long last the "Electricity" 2-CD set of Canberran electronic music will be out in mid-February. Over 150 minutes of world-class music. It has just been sent off for pressing and will retail for a ridiculously low promotional price (limited numbers). A page with information on the artists has also been uploaded. The "Songs of Protest" CD is scheduled for April. It has 76 minutes of political music from a musically diverse range of underground Australian artists. The new EYE CD should be out in March. A full-length E.L.F. CD is planned for May release. MP3 ALERT - Last chance to get a big bunch of them for a while! Since www.mp3.com (where we host most of our MP3s) was bought out by a transnational media corporation several years ago, it has gone rapidly downhill. On January 15 it will almost reach the bottom of that hill. While at present you can download, for free, over 30 MP3s of EYE, E.L.F. and DJ Citizen music care of the sites http://www.mp3.com/technobeats and http://www.mp3.com/eye, as of January 15 you'll only be able to get 3 MP3s per page. So head on over and get 'em whilst you can. This limitation is yet another stab in the back of undergound artists by the increasingly commercial www.mp3.com website. In the late 1990s it was a great website - we had over 100,000 downloads with very litle promotion - but it has been trashed by it's new corporate owners in the last few years. Propaganda news: New bits in the propaganda section include: Coming Soon - a more detailed expose on how the pharmaceutical-vivisection industry runs the animal welfare/rights movement. EYE news - the new EYE CD is now scheduled for release in March 2003 (It should have 60 minutes of CD audio, 60 minutes of MP3 audio, plus the Mpeg video to "Mandate!"). U.S. label "dekonstruction records" has just released EYE's "Slogans for Consumer Youth - Part 1" on a compilation CD called "Blaklite v1.0" - EYE's 43rd compilation!) E.L.F. news - a factory-pressed CD is in the works. E.L.F. will recommence gigs in February 2003. Radio news - we haven't had time to upload our playlists for the past few months. Each one takes a lot of time to type up, html and email out to the artists. Hopefully one day. We're also seriously considering taking a holiday from our radioshows - for about a year. But not until around April. November 2002: Song competitions, Upcoming ELF gigs & Adelaide A.S.I.N.G.E.D. CD launch. As of early November, an E.L.F. track, titled "Bring it Down", has been selected as one of the 5 "dance category" finalists for the www.musicoz.org song compeition. That was certainly a pleasant surprise. This has been followed up with some editorial about ELF in several music street papers around Australia. ELF and DJ Citizen apparently also did very well in the Radio JJJ Unearthed competition. ELF's scheduled December tour to Melbourne has had to be postponed to early 2003. However, several Canberra gigs are coming up including yet another free-benefit gig at "Green Screen" on Friday November 22nd, 11p.m. in the city square - Garema place. Also, the Adelaide launch of the "A.S.I.N.G.E.D." CD is on November 15. See the gig page for more information. October 2002: Books for sale, ELF gigs, new sections, new articles, A.S.I.N.G.E.D. CD launchesWe've added a page for our favourite political musical artists and selected albums with links on where to get their music. We've finally added a list of books that we love (on a variety of issues, mostly propaganda) which you can buy care of us on the books page. ELF had a great time at the recent This Is Not Art festival in Newcastle (incorporating Electrofringe, the National Young Writer's Festival, Sound Summit & more). Their set at the Mutant Electronica closing night party was very well received. Details on upcoming ELF gigs can be seen via the gig page. Several new articles have been added to the propaganda section: on the iraq war, genetic engineering, as well as a few articles submitted via email: "the masters of deceit" and "words of hope in uncertain times". The (huge) A.S.I.N.G.E.D. CD national launch project is finally coming to a close: the Sydney, Melbourne and Newcastle launches all went smoothly (including some good press and radio coverage). Now, just have Adelaide to go on November 15: 75 CD giveaways. See the gig page. September 2002: Search Engine, Site Map, New Propaganda articles, New Artists and CDs added to the catalogue, ELF gigs and A.S.I.N.G.E.D. CD launchesWe've finally made the Search Engine results fit in with our look and feel. Also, we've added a site map. (They're free ones, so please ignore the advertising on the results page :-) New CD releases: We've finally added pages, linked to the shop index page, for our new catalogue of CD releases::: new artists include: SysX, Dark Network, Continuum, Whiteplan, Non Bossy Posse, Organarchy Sound Systems and the Reclaim the Streets compilation. Propaganda: New articles in the propaganda section to do with the Iraq War debate: great to discover a conservative U.S. politician who isn't a war-monger. Also, on the flaws of Genetic Engineering. Gigs: For updates on ELF gigs in Canberra (Art School Ball) and Newcastle (This Is Not Art/Electrofringe festival) and the A.S.I.N.G.E.D. compilation CD launches in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Newcastle, please see the gig page. New reviews added for DJ Citizen's "Are you Contented?" CD and ELF's "Live @ XXL" CD. Our September 2002 mail-order catalogue can be downloaded in MS-Word format. August 2002: Stop the draconian Terror Laws campaign, new CD releases...In recent months we have been very busy spreading the word about the Australian Government's draconian anti-democratic terrorist laws. Whilst they passed some aspects of these laws in June, the parts which would give ASIO police state powers have been delayed again and again. They are now due to be voted on by the Senate in mid-August. These laws will undermine Australian's civil liberties and could pave the way for Australia to become a police state. Our efforts have involved large e-mail-and-phone-the-politician's campaigns, posters, newsletters, the production and distribution of community announcements (sent to and aired on over 20 community radio stations) as well as interviews on numerous radio stations (special thanks to 3RRR (Tony Biggs & Bec Hornsby), 2XX's "Behind the Lines" & "Youthwaves" teams, Ben @ Heritage FM in Fremantle, Brigid Barry @ 6RTR...). The new "A.S.I.N.G.E.D. (Australian Synthpop Industrial Noise Gothic Electronica Darkwave)" Compilation CD is our main music occupation at present. We've had it launched in Canberra, Hobart, Perth, and Brisbane with around 300 CDs given away so far. The Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Adelaide launches are coming up in September and October. Have a look at the gig page for more information and dates. EYE are mixing the last few songs for their next factory-pressed CD: should be available in mid-September. ELF have been busy doing gigs. New CD Releases: DJ Citizen ::: has a 5-track CDr out called "Are You Contented?" 25 minutes of power noise gabber techno industrial trip-hop glitchcore. Only $5 including post. E.L.F. ::: "Live at X.X.L." Recording of the 40 minute gig on December 1 2001. Part of the X.X.L. benefit gig festival for Canberra's Community Radio Station 2XX 98.3FM. 28 March 2002: Busy preparing 2 comp CDs, plus EYE, ELF, DJ Citizen & more stuffBeen a while since the last news post! We've been busy beavers though. EYE continues to be heavily featured on numerous radio stations around Australia, including lengthy interviews on several stations such as RTR (Perth), Pulse (Geelong) & 5DDD (Adelaide). EYE has once again been featured in the Green Left Weekly newspaper as well as on the Wobbly Radio website. The mastering and artwork for our 2 new compilation CDs "A-S.I.N.G.E.D" and "ELECTRICITY" is 98% done. Nearly there (after so many delays!) Both should be released within the next 4-12 weeks. More news on those soonishly. A bunch of new releases by several new artists will be added to the Blatant Propaganda catalogue very soon too e.g TDM, Whiteplan, Continuum, Kimmo Vennonnen, SysX, DJ Citizen & more. EYE has been featured on over 40 compilation CDs now. And we've topped over 20,000 MP3 downloads in just the past year of ELF, EYE & DJ Citizen care-of http://www.mp3.com/technobeats
December 2001: J Citizen (of EYE, elf and B.P.) interview airs on over 70 radio stations. On December 6, a 20 minute interview with J. Citizen (of Blatant Propaganda, EYE and elf) was aired on over 70 community radio stations in Australia. This was via the radioshow "Beatroot" which is syndicated nationally via the Community Radio Broadcasting Association. The interview featured the new EYE track "Taliban, Made by the USA" as well as EYE's "Mandate!" and ELF's "Puppets!" remix of EYE's "Party Politicians Part 2".
