music reviews
::: Ras Al Ghul ::: "Subharmonic Density Structures"
electronica-ambience
In a review of a previous R.A.G. CD, I described them as being as good
as if not better than anything I've heard on the British WARP record
label (and I've heard many WARP releases). And that remains my conviction!
If you like multi-layered ambient innovative electronic-based music
you'll love this.
While other R.A.G. CDs were home-burnt CDRs, this is a factory-pressed
CD. Their music has developed on this release and showcases a wider
variety of textures though it still retains their characteristic and
unique style. Imagine a slightly less abstract Autechre mixed with world
music percussion elements. It's generally very ethereal. Very cosmic.
Heavenly washes mix over bubbling organic basslines & innovative beat
structures. It's very rare that I say any music with beats is ambient
or meditative, but this is. Listening music perfect for any environment.
Very highly recommended! 10 tracks over 59 minutes.
