music reviews::: Ras Al Ghul ::: "Subharmonic Density Structures"
In a review of a previous R.A.G. CD, I described them as being as good as if not better than anything I've heard on the British WARP record label (and I've heard many WARP releases). And that remains my conviction! If you like multi-layered ambient innovative electronic-based music you'll love this. While other R.A.G. CDs were home-burnt CDRs, this is a factory-pressed CD. Their music has developed on this release and showcases a wider variety of textures though it still retains their characteristic and unique style. Imagine a slightly less abstract Autechre mixed with world music percussion elements. It's generally very ethereal. Very cosmic. Heavenly washes mix over bubbling organic basslines & innovative beat structures. It's very rare that I say any music with beats is ambient or meditative, but this is. Listening music perfect for any environment. Very highly recommended! 10 tracks over 59 minutes. Available for equivalent of 2900 Portugese Esc. from Aquatica Records: PO Box 347, P.2826-801 Caparica Portugal. Web: www.thisco.net Fax: 351-213526482 The two R.A.G. CDRs I know of which are both thoroughly recommended are available for 2500.00PTE by International Money Order from the band at: R.S.Marcal, 75 R/C 1200 Lisboa, Portugal.
