music review
::: Bytet ::: "First Bite"
electronic-body-music (e.b.m.)
While I'd heard several wonderful tracks from the Alaskan outfit Bytet
on compilation CDs that date to the mid-late 90s, I didn't realise the
project had been around as long as it has until I received this 1993-released
CD. For those who have heard tracks on various comps with female vocals,
this disc contains mostly instrumental tracks and the vocals of Bytet
main-man R.G.Geiger. His theatrical vocals remind me of Fish from Marillion.
The music is raw teknoid-electronic-body-music with the mechanical
feel that is the Bytet trademark. If you're like me, and dig the sounds
of 1980s Severed Heads, then you'll enjoy this. Though I do recommend
checking out Bytet's more recent material first. 9 tracks span 51 minutes.

By the way, check out the very recommended LOOP web-magazine put together
by RG Geiger at http://welcome.to/Loop
It has monthly features on industrial-electro-gothic bands, zines and
lots more with animations and lots of fancy things to keep you enthralled.
He was one of the first people to use shockwave animations on his sites,
many years ago before Flash became all the rage.
