music review:Steve Andrews ::: "Dive in Deep"acoustic-psychedelic-folk My goodness, a real live Welsh Hippie in the late 90s! (Sorry Steve, I couldn't help but write that.) This tape features 17 songs of lurrve (and social comments such as in "sheep") strongly influenced by Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Don McClean and Crosby Stills, Nash and Young. The melodies are straightforward and catchy and the rhyming lyrics (eg. "5-4-3-2-1-zero, I want to be your super-hero") reminiscent of the tongue-in-cheek style of Syd Barret (Pink Floyd's lyricist/vocalist on "Piper at the Gates of Dawn").If you listen to late 60s acoustic folk-rock or modern folk-rock such as Andy white then you're a candidate for Mr. Andrews music: acoustic steel-string guitars, vocals with band backing (with occasional odd instruments like kazoo & jewsharp) as well as several live tracks. My favourite is "Cariad Jungle" which (I think!) is mostly in Welsh and quite distinct with it's minimal instrumentation and echoed vocals. 2.99 Pounds via: Music & Elsewhere/UWU - 6 Farm Court Frimley Surrey GU16 5TJ U.K. or contact Mr. Andrews at: 22 Parker Place Ely Cardiff CFS 4NS Wales.
