music review:Headpress ::: "the other side of progress"industrial - metal If you dig Dogmachine's heavier stuff like "Headwound" and/or the band Sterile then you'll dig this. It's a similar, distinctly Australian style of industrial-rock-metal, though in the tradition of Ministry and Helmet: distorted guitars, industrial dance beats, grating samples, sludge bass and gravelly vocals. My favourite track is "accelerate", with it's guitar riff that reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "How Many More Times", which will also appear on the NNN Productions "Down Under Ground Vol.3" compilation soon. There's one thing that gives me the shits when I listen to this - the horrible yankee voices they've used as samples. Maybe that's their intention - to make me want to kick these people's teeth in. If so, it works. There are 5 tracks over 21 minutes. $11.50 aust. available from: David - 17/12 Avona Ave. Glebe 2037 NSW Australia. E-mail: [email protected] |
