music review:

Detritus ::: "El Vaiven de los Ciclos"

electro-darkwave-industrial

This really is top quality stuff. One of my favourite albums. It's in my top 10 of all time. This is dark, but not too dark, electro-darkwave-industrial. Slow mellow and brooding tracks that remind me at times of early Controlled Bleeding and also of Shinjuku Thief... but much better than both. It's good to hear vocals in Spanish, though about a third are in English. The lyrics are on various metaphysical issues - though not particularly religious ones, more to do with mental cognitive (human condition) ones. The vocals are morose and weary, but not gothic (thankfully) and fit perfectly with the music. There are no dance floor beat songs on here - a good thing. Very good atmospheric listening for when you're tired. This is my first exposure to this kind of music from Mexico and I'm impressed. Ambient and harsh industrial noises mix with minimalist pianos, sample-loops, darkwave synth strings, environmental sounds, ethereal waltzes and occasional vocals to produce some great spell-binding music.

$12 U.S (outside North America add $2 - only cash or i.m.o) to

Juan Antonio Rotuno Espino - Genital Productions: 10 y 11 Anaya y O. Ramirez #736 Victoria, Tam. 87050 Mexico.
