Chain D.L.K.: EYE is a special project. Would you tell us when and how EYE established and which is the actual status of this project/band?

J. Citizen (EYE): 1991. Or was it 1992? EYE evolved from experimental lo-fi 4-track recordings through many theatre soundtracks, cassette, CDR and compilation releases, to the new CD: "Politics Can be Fun - Volume 1". EYE, and the sibling project The e.l.f. (formerly called 'aya'), are finally poised to sneak, while no-one is looking, into the wider music market.

Chain D.L.K.: How would you describe Eye?

J. Citizen (EYE): Either verbally or in written form... or via smoke signals if necessary. The content of the description might be something like: propaganda-industrial-electronica (with snippets of e.b.m., acid-house, jungle, trip-hop, punk, psychedelic rock and euro-synth-pop.)

Chain D.L.K.: There are only few bands around the world concentrating on the medical, social and political aspects bound to animal experimentation, vivisection etc... And especially there are few electro-industrial bands doing it... How do you feel covering this role in a musical world where most seem to do not care about these social plagues and talk about bullshit in their lyrics?

J. Citizen (EYE): What!?! Are you implying that EYE DO NOT WRITE ABOUT BULLSHIT?!?!? Well, what can I say? I'm devastated!!! Truly... stunned. All my life I've tried to write meaningless rubbish and bullshit, and just when I thought I'd achieved my goal... you waltz in and say that! Cruel!! But I appreciate your honesty.

I guess I'm eternally doomed to my tragic predicament: I believe in the motto "to remain silent is to lie". I know so much important suppressed information that I feel I have to express it through lyrics and samples in an attempt to encourage people to think about things they've never thought about. If I've got to suffer thinking about these things, then so shall everyone else!!! So, I feel fine about it.... apart from ... the devastion caused by your comments, but time will heal that I'm sure.

Chain D.L.K.: Which are your influences (apart from the obvious non-musical influences)?

J. Citizen (EYE): The main ones are: Laibach (1980 - 1994), Test Dept., Midnight Oil, Skinny Puppy, Pankow, Snog, Consolidated, Front 242, some commercial big beat electronica like Chemical Brothers and a lot of the darker off-beat techno acts like Autechre, Speedy J, Locust, Underground Resistance and many underground Australian electronica-projects such as the IF? Records label and Organarchy Sound Systems (a collective of acts), through to more guitar based bands like Loop, Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Stereolab, Godflesh, Spacemen 3, the Wreckery, and Pink Floyd (pre-1983). I also listen to a lot of ambient, Baroque and 20th century offbeat orchestral/chamber music.

Chain D.L.K.: Each of your songs deal with a particular topic. Which topics have you dealt with by this time and which are your future intentions?

J. Citizen (EYE): Past, present and future topics include: conspiracies, emotional catharsis (ie. unlocking repressed emotion!), animal research, water-flouridation, the Inquisition of the middle-ages (the persecution of alternative thinkers by organised religion), vaccination myths, the dangers of psychiatric drugs, mind control experiments and projects, the West-sponsored genocide in East Timor by the Javanese (main island of Indonesia), the ideas of Wilhelm Reich (including the orgone energy, the function of the orgasm, sexual repression and the mass psychology of authoritarianism/totalitarianism, and the terrible consequences of mysticism (fascism)), the hypnotic-mind-numbing effects of television, ... I'll pause for a break here so everyone can get their breath back ... 1,2, breathe in, breathe out..., ready? Here we go again: the destruction of cultural diversity around the world by disposable American junk-culture, corporate monopolisation of world resources, how Chain DLK controls those corporations, human apathy and indifference, the power of individuals to change the world, mass-media censorship, vegetarian/veganism, the New World Order and much more including subjects mentioned above and below, inside and out. Plus a fair degree of dark humour to keep it from getting boring! Oh, and some other future topics will be things that I was passionate about when I was a teenager: sexism (against both men and women), racism, homophobia and how the corporate-media creates our vanity insecurities and then preys on them to make money and keep us divided. God, what a boring list!

Chain D.L.K.: Each of the Eye works seem to be concept-albums? Tell us about the choice of acting this way... Why did you decide to work with concept?
