I wish to express my great concern about the Howard Government's anti-democratic "terror laws" which will have grave consequences for ordinary Australians. I agree with legal opinion which says we do not need any of these draconian laws; the existing criminal laws are adequate for dealing with terrorist offences. These laws fundamentally threaten Australian's liberties and way of life. These laws will create a society of fear, paranoia, division and misery not unlike those societies of former Soviet countries and various dictatorships. I am appaulled that any Australian politician seriously considered introducing these laws. I wish you to know that unless your party opposes these laws and any ammended versions totally, I will not vote for your party again. I know many many other Australians feel the same way. I sincerely believe that any party who supports these laws will be remembered for ending Australia's period of democracy and liberty.
