<<< to the most recent news page. September 2001: EYE's "Detention without Trial" song (see next news blurb) receives lots of airplay on radio and at rallies.EYE's song "[Refugees] Detention without Trial" is receiving regular airplay on several dozen radio stations around Australia. It has been broadcast on several nationally syndicated shows (to over 100 radio stations) as well broadcasts at several of the recent Refugee Action Committee (RAC) rallies in Canberra (which have regularly attracted over 500 people). Copies of a special 6-track CDr have been made available to the RAC to help raise some funds for their campaign. Alternatively, you can download the MP3 for free from http://www.mp3.com.au/eye
August 2001: "[ REFUGEES ] Detention without Trial" ... a new EYE CDr e.p. and free MP3.EYE has released a new 4-track CDr E.P. titled "[ Refugees E.P.] Detention without Trial" (BPCD008). Promotional copies have been sent to about 40 Community Radio stations around Australia as well as several dozen university student newspapers. The tracklist is: "Detention without Trial" is the main track. It features EYE doing something quite different to anything previous. This is more of a power pop punk rock guitar-driven type track, somewhat like early 80s Midnight Oil or the Clash perhaps. Though it is still characteristic of EYE and full of EYE's driving energy. You can now download the MP3 or Windows Media file for free at: http://www.mp3.com.au/eye The overall aim is to raise awareness about the Refugee Action Committee and to expose the persecution of refugees by the Australian government and commercial media.
August 2001: new Organarchy Sound Systems compilation CD!Organarchy Sound Systems, the collective of East-coast Australian cyber-electronica-anarchists has released a new CD called "Beatwork Volume 2". It features 16 artists spanning over an hour of underground drumNbass, hip hop and acid breakbeats with lots of right-on political content to boot. ELF is featured with the blistering sample-heavy acid drumNbass track "Psychological Warfare (EYE's chopper mix)" and EYE with the propaganda soundscape "Uranium" which is a retitled piece from the "Politics.. Vol.1" CD about the corporate greed and stupidity of in-situ leach mining of uranium in South Australia. For more info about this CD, and to grab a copy visit the Organarchy Sound Systems web-site. Or, if you are an interested radio DJ, music press author etc. e-mail us as we have some free promos to give away.
August 2001: 45+ new music reviews added. Finally, we have been able to HTML and upload many of the music reviews that we wrote over the past 12 months or so. Apologies to the artists for taking so long in some cases! The last year has been very hectic. There are more reviews to come.
June 2001: Refugee Action Committee:To learn about the appaulling conditions in which refugees (asylum seekers) live in when they arrive in Australia, visit the web-site of the Refugee Action Committee at http://www.refugeeaction.org The government and the media have been waging an abhorrent and somewhat racist propaganda campaign of scapegoating asylum seekers. The most frightening thing, is that this one-sided propaganda seems to be working on many Australians; they see rioting refugees on the biased t.v. coverage and don't think to ask "What is being done to them to make them so desperate?" If you want to know why the refugees are going on hunger strikes, "rioting" in the detention camps and why the detention centres have been labelled concentration camps by many human rights bodies, then visit the site. Also, to get a quick overview of the refugees side of the story, you can download the PDF leaflet "Case for Freeing the Refugees" June 2001: Seeking submissions for an Australian Industrial(ish) compilation:We are now seeking submissions from Australian industrial, heavy electronica, e.b.m., heavy drum N bass, and noise artists for a compilation CD. Blatant Propaganda is releasing this CD in association with the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) and Community Radio 2XX Canberra. CBAA will send copies of the CD to the approximately 250-300 Community Radio stations across Australia. We will send it to selected music press and arrange mass giveaways in nightclubs in every major city. The main aim of this CD is to get the relatively unkown but great music of Australia's numerous projects in these genres into the hands and ears of the public. For more detailed information, click here. Submission deadline is January 31 2001. April 2001: ELF played on national Radio JJJ Sat. 14th April 2001:By complete chance we tuned in to the Australian government's national youth radio station, JJJ, on saturday night and heard the ELF track "Echelon" played during the prime-time dance music mix up session. This was particularly great as JJJ has ignored our releases in the past (well, EYE, at least, which was considered too controversial) and because the ELF track has only been released on CDr to a few fortunate souls! It turns out it was during a DJ session of DJ Michael MD (thanks Michael!)

EYE interview for national T.V. music show "Alchemy":It was just learnt that the long-awaited interview with J. Citizen of EYE, recorded in December 1999 (see below), is not going to be screened on SBS-TVs "Alchemy" music show. Apparently, their trainee audio person totally stuffed up the interviews with several artists from Canberra. Oh well. At least they screened the video to "Mandate!" The interview was recorded in the Room 101 studio, with J. Citizen sporting a John Howard mask. It would have been quite a memorable moment in Australian TV history, and reached out to tens of thousands of new people, potentially hundreds of thousands.... oh well!
